ISL: 'Ljungberg could play against FC Pune City' - Mumbai City FC coach Peter Reid
Mumbai, 17th October 2014: Mumbai City FC had a productive final practice session at D.Y. Patil Stadium, Nerul, Navi Mumbai, today afternoon ahead of their Saturday’s Hero Indian Super League match against visiting team FC Pune City.
Coach Peter Reid and the former German International Manuel Friedrich addressed the Pre-match press conference after the training.
Mumbai City FC would look to get their Hero Indian Super League campaign back on track on their home turf when they take on FC Pune City in their second game of the inaugural edition at the D.Y. Patil Stadium on Saturday evening.
Coach Peter Reid commented, "the take away from the match against Atletico de Kolkata was that Mumbai City FC team needs to pass the ball better and we expect a great improvement in the game tomorrow in that aspect. The pitch at D.Y. Patil Stadium looks great and the team is looking forward to play tomorrow's game on grass in their home turf and emerge as winners.
“The team would be without their injured skipper Syed Rahim Nabi, who injured his ankle in the opening game. Freddie Ljungberg felt fine after today's training and might play his part in tomorrow's match after recovering enough from a niggle he suffered during practice. Hope the team goes out and plays good attacking football and make it an interesting game tomorrow.”
Germany's Manuel Friedrich, the captain for tomorrow's match commented, "I was one of the first players to join the team and come to India and am getting used to the conditions and the weather in India. I am excited to play the home match in the presence of home fans. First match was disappointing as we were not able to perform as a team and now hoping to change that and to make sure that we get the 3 points in tomorrow's game. It is much better to play on grass than playing on artificial turf. We need to play the game and maintain our focus throughout the 90 minute."
