What's the Story?

ISL team Mumbai City Football Club have come up with a unique gesture to give away fans a good experience. They have created a dedicated section for away fans during their home matches at the Mumbai Football Arena. This facility will be made available to fans from Sunday, December 17. On that day, Mumbai will face off against Atletico de Kolkata.

In Case You Didn't Know

Mumbai are the first team in the history of the ISL to come up with such an initiative. Mumbai City FC currently have 7 points from 5 games so far, with two wins, one draw and two losses.

The Heart of the Matter

Mumbai City FC co-owner Ranbir Kapoor said, "I am really glad that we could be the first team in the ISL to have taken this progressive step towards supporting the fan culture in our country. It will motivate the away team supporters to flock to our arena in numbers to watch their favourite teams live in action."

"We believe this move will create a great atmosphere in the stadium and I am quite sure the fans will definitely appreciate our latest effort to promote football and enhance the fan experience in our home stadium," the actor added.

Mumbai City CEO Indranil Das Blah is also delighted to have a special section for the visiting team's fans. He believes that it will not only bring a great atmosphere in the stands with both teams getting cheered on but will also ensure the safety and comfort of the away fans. Besides, it will allow them to have a great, hassle-free match-day experience at the Mumbai Football Arena as well.

What's Next?

A total of 200 seats will be allotted to the away supporters' section. The visiting fans can book the tickets on BookMyShow under a special category.

Author's Take

This is truly an interesting idea as it will make the visitors feel welcomed by the host team. It is also a very clever move as it drastically lowers the chances of fan violence and any chance of racist attacks on opposing fans, like what a few NorthEast United fans faced a few days ago.
