Nacer Chadli's booking for celebrating against Arsenal was a bit too excessive
Sometimes it does make sense when a player is booked for celebrating his goal, but not this one.
During Tottenham’s Premier League tie against arch-rival Arsenal, Tottenham midfielder was issued a yellow card for celebrating his goal after scoring the first goal of the game in the 56th minute of the game.
Unlike any other controversial and booking-worthy celebrations, all Chadli had done was run towards the stand where the Arsenal supporters were seated, and cup his ear towards them, a gesture that should be considered normal in a game of this magnitude. But, referee Michael Oliver had something else in his mind.
He called up Chadli, and showed him the yellow card.
Reaction to the booking
On the other hand, Dynamo Dresden striker Sylvano Cornvaluis was also sent off for his goal celebration in a German third division tie against Chemnitzer FC earlier. Cornvaluis had scored the winner with only four minutes left on the clock. The striker celebrated by ripping his top off, and then jumping over the fence to celebrate with the supporters.
He was then sent off.
