Nampalys Mendy does not want to make a move to 'dream club' Manchester United
20 year old Nampalys Mendy admitted that Manchester United is the dream club that he would like to join, but he maintained that he will stay at Monaco as of now.
Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing the defensive midfielder.
“It’s encouraging. They’re the club of my dreams. It proves that I’ve done some good things, but I want to stay in France,” he told lequipe.fr.
Mendy is currently out of contract at Monaco but will hold talks with the club once he returns from his holiday in Morocco and then announce his future plans.
Though he said: “I’ve already made my choice.”
Rumours suggested that Mendy had signed a pre-contract agreement with Ligue 1 club Nice some months ago and that he decided to make a move due to new players that are being bought by Monaco this transfer window.
“It’s not because of the competition. I’m not afraid of that. Everywhere I go, there’ll be that,” he explained.
“And it’s not Ranieri’s (Monaco FC manager) fault either. If there had only been him, I would have extended my contract… it’s simply that I didn’t like several things that happened during the renegotiation of my contract.”
