We know Ronaldo is better than Benzema: Nani
Portugal winger Nani is of the firm opinion that his Portuguese team-mate and captain Cristiano Ronaldo is a better player than France’s Karim Benzema.
Benzema on the scoresheet for France
The Seleccao travelled to Paris and faced Didier Deschamps’ men in an International friendly which they lost 2-1, courtesy of an opener from Karim Benzema and a wonderful low strike from Paul Pogba.
Their talismanic in form forward Ronaldo was rendered an ineffective figure by Les Blues and he was taken off in the second half. His replacement, Ricardo Quaresma, came on and scored the consolation goal as Portugal failed to net in the equaliser in the remaining 13 minutes.
And Real Madrid striker Benzema put on an impressive display as France took an early lead in the 3rd minute getting a rare better outing than his Blancos team-mate Ronaldo.
But Nani believes that this one match was never about drawing a conclusion on who is better head-to-head and that it is pointless to compare as its already obvious who is better.
"Today was not about who is better between Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo," he said. "We know who is better...
"Today was a good game and that was what was most important for both teams."
Carvalho more diplomatic on Ronaldo – Benzema comparison
Former Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho on the other hand had a more discreet view on his ex-team mates.
"Karim is a top player as well," the Monaco defender said.
"Of course, Ronaldo is our talisman and he's the best but Karim is also doing very well for his national team and both of them are great players."
Portugal will travel to Copenhagen on Tuesday to take on an in form Denmark in the Euro 2016 qualifiers.
