Napoli chief rules out Cavani's return to Napoli
Rome, Aug 29 (IANS) Napoli's president Aurelio De Laurentiis has ruled out signing Paris Saint-Germain's Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani, who played for the Italian football club between 2010 and 2013.
"I hold Edinson Cavani in high esteem. We had a lot of fun during his time in Naples. He scored some beautiful goals, 104 of them! But bringing a player back to Napoli who has been here before is difficult," De Laurentiis said in remarks on the club's website on Sunday.
"Not so much because it seems like reheating an old soup, but because Napoli evolves from season to season, assuming different systems and styles of play," he added.
The Napoli president wanted to clear up rumours about Cavani leaving PSG to return to the Italian outfit, reports Efe.
"This is why I always say that we need young players and the new arrivals this summer will already make a major contribution to Napoli's successes," De Laurentiis said.
"Talking about our forwards, big players like Arkadiusz Milik and Manolo Gabbiadini have big chances of becoming superstars with Napoli."
Cavani, 29, left Napoli in 2013 and joined PSG for 64 million euros ($71.4 million).
