Napoli eyes Brazil striker Damiao
Rio De Janeiro, Feb 13 (IANS): Italian football club Napoli is reportedly preparing a bid to sign Brazil international striker Leandro Damiao in the European summer transfer window.
The Italian Serie A club is looking for a possible replacement for Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani, who is on the radar of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Damiao, 23, is considered one of Brazil’s most promising centre-forwards and was the country’s leading scorer during last year’s London Olympic tournament with six goals.
He has also attracted the interest of England’s Tottenham Hotspur, who have had several offers for the forward rejected by Damiao’s club Internacional.
Napoli’s interest in signing Damiao could depend on the outcome of the club’s pursuit of Sampdoria’s Argentine striker Mauro Icardi.
