Nasri, Ribery sit out France training
DONETSK, Ukraine (AFP) –
France midfielders Samir Nasri and Franck Ribery both sat out training on Wednesday, as Laurent Blanc’s side began preparations for their Euro 2012 quarter-final with Spain.
Nasri injured his knee during the 2-0 loss to Sweden in Kiev on Tuesday and did not appear for training at France’s Kircha training base south-west of Donetsk.
Ribery emerged with the rest of the squad but after completing a lap of the complex with his team-mates, he returned to the team hotel, apparently complaining of a problem with his left foot.
Early reports suggested he had sustained a blister, which is unlikely to compromise his chances of playing against Spain.
France face Spain at Kiev’s Olympic Stadium on Saturday, when they will be bidding to reach the semi-finals of a major tournament for the first time since their runners-up finish at the 2006 World Cup.
