Rumour: Manchester United icon to leave for Serie A
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic could be on his way out of the club in the summer as he is said to be in advanced talks with Italian club Inter.
Vidic, 32, will be a free agent when his contract expires in the summer so he is currently allowed to talk to other clubs about organising a transfer in the summer and signing a pre-contract agreement now. He was sent off in United’s recent 3-1 defeat to rivals Chelsea.
The club said to be at the front of the race for the Serbian’s signature is Inter, who are thought to have held positive talks over the potential transfer.
According to reports in Italy, Inter sent a delegation to Manchester over the weekend to meet with the centre back, who is the Serie A team’s top transfer target for next season.
It’s thought Inter are offering Vidic a two-year contract worth about £100,000-a-week.
The defender is set to hold further talks with the Italians over the next few days to negotiate a deal to take him from Manchester to Milan in the summer.
Vidic has struggled this season, missing 12 of United’s league and Champions League matches.
