Gary Neville: Harry Kane is on the same level as Messi
What's the story?
Former England and Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane is on the same level as Europe's best strikers which includes the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Gary Neville told Sky Sports (via Express):
“He reminded of a cross between Alan [Shearer] and Didier [Drogba] against United. Honestly it was a brilliant performance from a centre forward. I’d go as far to say that I think he’s the best centre forward in Europe. Obviously you've got the likes of Suarez, Messi and Neymar who play up top that are absolutely incredible.
In case you didn't know...
The one thing that is similar between Kane, Messi and Neymar is that all three players carry their team and without them, their respective teams struggle to make any sort of impact. As we are witnessing, PSG play on a different level when Neymar is on the pitch but suffer shock losses when he is not part of the team, like the one at Lyon.
The same can be said of Harry Kane as many pundits and opposition managers have publicly claimed Tottenham Hotspur to be the 'Harry Kane Team'.
Harry Kane is also a big game player and his performances against Real Madrid and Dortmund have not gone unnoticed. Even in the recent game against Manchester United, he absolutely schooled Romelu Lukaku and the difference between the two strikers was clearly evident.
Harry Kane is one of a kind and the perfect No.9 that any team would love to have on their side. Having already scored 21 goals this season in the Premier League alone, he is well on course to win the Golden Boot.
Author's Take
Harry Kane is a prized asset for any team, but comparisons to Messi are too early. But he is well and truly on his way to becoming one of the greatest strikers ever.
