Newcastle in for England U21 international

Newcastle are the latest club to have joined the queue for the sensational Derby County midfielder William Hughes.

Hughes is one of the gifted England midfielders who is currently plying his trade in the second tier of English football. Such have been his performances that at the tender age of 18, he has been linked with European powerhouses like Manchester City, Arsenal and even Barcelona.

Hughes is a box–to–box midfielder who is good at attacking as well as defending.

The 2012 -13 season has been a breakthrough season for the 18 year old, who has made 38 appearances for the East midlands club, scoring two and also assisting in two goals.

Over the last few years, the magpies have been looking out for youngsters, both for the youth and senior teams and Hughes would be a perfect fit for that policy.

Nigel Clough, the Derby manager, had this to say,

“If somebody blows us out of the water with a massive offer then he will go, but that is the same at any club. Every player has his price, in any league, but we will always try to keep our best players. Our aim is to get into a position financially to hang on to them.”

The fact that Newcastle paid around £1 million for Gael Bigrimana, who was championship apprentice of the year, I doubt that Newcastle will enter into any bidding war with any of the big clubs; will only move if the price is right.
