Newcastle's Mathieu Debuchy confirms ongoing talks with Arsenal
Speculations rose after a Mathieu Debuchy account on Instagram said the deal was agreed between the two Premier League clubs. Mathieu Debuchy came clean on his official Facebook account saying “I want to warn you that @mathdebuchy Instagram account is fake! It is not mine. Thank you.”
Newcastle United is reportedly expecting sum in the region of £8-10 million for the French international, who joined the Magpies in January 2013 for around £5.5 million from the French club LOSC Lile. And when L’Equipe asked him to clear his current transfer status, Mathieu Debuchy explained: “It wasn't me who posted it on Instagram," he said.
"Everyone is saying that, but nothing has been done. For the moment, we are discussing it. Arsenal is a great club. We'll see what happens."
Newcastle United and France right back Mathieu Debuchy has confirmed the ongoing talks with the North London club Arsenal. However, he says the talks are in progress and nothing is finalized as of yet. The defender was talking with L’Equipe after suffering a 0-1 defeat by the hands of Germany in the Quarter Finals of FIFA World Cup 2014.
The 28 year old defender is being heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, a direct replacement for his French compatriot Bacary Sagna who joined Manchester City on a free transfer after winning the FA Cup with the Gunners. Before the start of the World Cup, Toulouse FC’s & Ivory Coast’s Serge Aurier was said to be on his way to the Arsenal but the move currently seems to be stalled and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has set his sights on defender having Premier League experience in the form of Mathieu Debuchy.
