Newcastle to play Tangerines in a pre season friendly

As things stand there has been no confirmation from Newcastle regarding their pre-season plans. Yes there was unofficial news of Newcastle playing in Cape Town along with Premier League rivals Everton. However, no confirmation has been forthcoming.

Now, the news is that Newcastle are in talks with Blackpool, regarding a pre-season friendly at Bloomfield road. This is what Blackpool Chairman Karl Oyston told the local media about the visit.

“We will have a friendly against Newcastle which we are working towards but there is no desperate panic – everything is on schedule.”

The fact that Blackpool’s season starts on the weekend of Saturday the 3rd of August, a date somewhere in July would probably make sense.

Given that both the teams are sponsored by the same brand, the news of a friendly comes as no surprise although there have been rumours of the friendly being linked with a possible transfer swap from Blackpool to Newcastle. Tom Ince, son of former England International is the name that has been linked with the Magpies in the past. Although these rumors remain unfounded.
