Newcastle Trial for Dutch youngster
It’s no secret that Newcastle united needs to bolster their first team as well as their youth academy and the anticipation is that the club should do some business come January 2013. However, the news before that is that the club will be offering a trial to the Dutch youngster who goes by the name of Denzel Slager.
Denzel (Butcher) Slager is a 19 year old striker who is currently on the books of Rooms Katholieke Combinatie Waalwijk or simply put RKC Waalwijk. Slager joined Waalwijk from the youth side of FC Utrecht in the summer of 2012 where he was listed as a winger. So far this term, Slager has made 2 substitute appearances for the club in the Eredivisie, playing a total of 18 minutes.
This is what RKC’s technical director Janus Van Gelder said about the whole thing.
“Butcher is a great talent. He will get the opportunity in the first week of January”.
The trial is expected to last for a week.
We all know that Dutch footballers are a skilled breed and have huge amounts of technical abilities. We certainly hope that things go according to plan and things work out for both the clubs and the player himself.
