Newcastle v Chelsea: Who starts for Chelsea after two big wins?
Chelsea have had a fantastic week. A massive win over Manchester City at Stamford Bridge followed by a fantastic performance and victory over Arsenal with our supposed “B team” and it has given Jose Mourinho a real selection headache!
Jose revealed today that he has no new injury concerns ahead of the game with Marko Van Ginkel as our only long term casualty in our season so far. Everyone is fit, everyone is working hard, raring to go and ready to play! Who do YOU think should start for Chelsea in this one?
Gary Cahill is the ONLY Chelsea player to have played 90 minutes in both of our games so it seems that he will be rested tomorrow. Expect David Luiz to come in and line up next to John Terry. As for the other positions you would imagine that Jose will rotate back in the players that played against Manchester City.
In saying that, is there anyone that you feel has done more than enough against Arsenal to force themselves into the side tomorrow?
Of course as always there is one player that seems to have done that and that is Juan Mata!
At the moment, Jose seems to prefer the balance of having Schurrle and Hazard either side of Oscar. The problem Mourinho has is that Schurrle, Hazard, Mata and Willian have all scored in recent weeks so it’s giving him food for thought. If Juan Mata can force his way into the team tomorrow then you would imagine Schurrle would be the man to make way!
If I was Jose Mourinho I would select the following starting eleven tomorrow:
Cech, Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry(c), Cole, Mikel, Ramires, Oscar, Mata, Hazard and Torres.
I have included Mikel in the side rather than Frank Lampard. Mikel gives us better protection and up there against a good side, that could be more than important. We also have to consider Lamps. It would be an ideal game give him an extended rest and then bring him back for the Champions League.
I have gone with Juan Mata ahead of Schurrle because looking at the way Newcastle play, there is plenty of opportunities to get in between the lines of their midfield and back four and Mata working in tandem with Oscar and Hazard can cause them all sorts of problems!
As with any game, I can only give you my team and my opinion. What I would like to have is as many opinions of Chelsea fans reading this and no matter where in the world you are!
Who do YOU think Mourinho should start with?
Carefree & KTBFFH!
