Newcastle's Loic Remy to miss season opener at Manchester City
Newcastle United striker Loic Remy, who is on loan from Queens Park Rangers, will miss the Premier League’s season opener at Manchester City on August 19, manager Alan Pardew confirmed.
Pardew told the Newcastle Chronicle, “It’s just a strain, but it’s an area that is stopping him from running at the moment, we need to get some work into him.
“There is no chance of him making the City game. Whether there is a chance of him playing against West Ham in the next game is something we will have to suck and see as we go along.”
Pardew also indicated that the club are looking to add even more firepower to their current squad.
“We look like we need a bit of improvement at the top of the pitch. We have Remy in and unfortunately he’s injured, so that’s still an area we need to improve on.
“I think there are a lot of players still to move in this window. I think we will be involved in that,” he added.
