2 Al-Nassr stars set to be left out of squad as Cristiano Ronaldo's side take on Al-Orobah in SPL clash – Reports
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr have reportedly excluded Angelo Gabriel and Wesley Gassova from the squad for their Saudi Premier League clash against Al-Orobah on Saturday, October 5. This will come as a surprise as both players are not currently injured.
Fourth-placed Al-Nassr will welcome 11th-placed Al-Orobah at Al-Awwal Park in their sixth league game. Ronaldo’s side will be keen to extend their winning run to five games across competitions.
But in what will come as a surprise, Angelo Gabriel and Wesley Gassova have been excluded from Al-Nassr’s squad list for the game against Al-Orubah, according to the Al-Nassr Zone,
The reason for the exclusion is unknown, and it is perhaps surprising, to say the least, as none of the players are injured and they both featured in the last two matches for the club.
Meanwhile, it is worth noting that Angelo Gabriel completed his permanent move to the Saudi Pro League club from Chelsea earlier this month for a reported fee of £19.1 million.
What Cristiano Ronaldo said after Al-Nassr defeated Al Rayyan in the AFC Champions League
Cristiano Ronaldo claimed that his affinity for any competition in the form of the Champions League is second to none. Al-Nassr hosted Qatari side Al Rayyan in their second AFC Champions League match of the 2024-25 campaign on Monday (September 30) and secured a 2-1 victory.
After the match, Ronaldo assessed his side’s performance while also saying how special the game was to him. He said (via GOAL);
“We had a good game. It’s a Champions League game, so it’s always special. I think the team played very well. We created so many opportunities. We played well. We didn’t concede too many opportunities and we deserved to win.”
Stefano Pioli’s team came racing out of the blocks in the game but failed to convert their early chances. The Qatari side also had their fair share of chances in the first 45 minutes. Al-Nassr broke the deadlock as Sadio Mane headed home Sultan Al Ghannam’s cross into the box in first-half added time (45+1').
Ronaldo doubled his side’s lead in the 76th minute, curling home a pass from Abdulrahman Ghareeb in the 18-yard area. Although Roger Guedes reduced the arrears in the 87th minute, it was too little too late for Al Rayyan.
