“A Clasico is always unpredictable" - Luis Figo names his favorites for LaLiga clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona
Former Barcelona and Real Madrid star Luis Figo has predicted the winner for the upcoming El Clasico on Saturday (October 26). The Blaugrana head into this tie top of the LaLiga standings, three points clear of their arch-rivals, who sit in second.
Los Blancos must be full of confidence as they overcame a two-goal deficit to beat Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday (October 22). Moreover, the Madrid-based outfit are playing at the Santiago Bernabeu, which may tip the scales in their favor.
At least, Figo believes so and told Cadena SER (via Football Espana):
“A Clasico is always unpredictable. Everyone wants to be there, lots of rivalry, lots of aggression. It doesn’t matter much how either team comes into it in terms of performance, because the result is unpredictable. It’ll be good, Madrid has to favoured a bit, because they play at home, and they have to win to be there at the top."
However, Real Madrid will have to overcome a Barcelona team that are flying under new coach Hansi Flick. They managed to breeze past Bayern Munich in their midweek Champions League group match on Wednesday (4-1, October 23).
The Catalan outfit's fans will be thrilled by several returning stars, particularly in the midfield area. Frenkie de Jong and Gavi are heading closer to getting back to full fitness and could make appearances in this weekend's clash.
Luis Figo points out Real Madrid comeback ahead of Barcelona meeting
Former Portugal star Luis Figo pointed out Real Madrid's incredible comeback against Borussia Dortmund ahead of their El Clasico against Barcelona. During this tie, Los Blancos found themselves two goals down at halftime.
However, playing at home, they managed to score five in the second half, with Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior bagging a hat trick. Speaking ahead of the weekend's league clash between these fierce rivals, Figo said (via Football Espana):
“I think that playing for Madrid, in that stadium, with all the support they get in the Champions League, it’s a very favourable environment. I was saying to a friend, the second half is still to come, that all of the Real Madrid games are very long at the Bernabeu no?"
Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have won their latest LaLiga matches. The former of the two beat Celta Vigo 2-1 (October 19), while the latter managed to put away Sevilla 5-1 (October 20).
