Adam Lallana heaps praise on Liverpool superstar, claims he is 'one of his favorite players'

Adam Lallana has named Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister as one of the best players he had played with in his career. The Brighton & Hove Albion star stated that he also considered Roberto Firmino, but the Brazilian cannot be classified as a midfielder.

Lallana stated that while Firmino was his favorite, he played a lot more as a number 10 and a false 9. But another one of his favorite players is Mac Allister. He likes the Argentina international's profile and how he plays the game. He said in a podcast (via TBR Football):

"Firmino, he wasn't a midfielder as such, a number 10, false nine, but then another one of my favourite players is Alexis Mac Allister, his profile and the way he plays the game."

Adam Lallana played 45 matches with Mac Allister at Brighton but the two never combined for a goal. The Englishman also played for Liverpool, but moved to the AmEx stadium, while the Argentine went the other way in the summer of 2023.

Adam Lallana was full of praise for Alexis Mac Allister after the latter won the FIFA World Cup with Argentina. He stated that the Liverpool star was a special player and praised the midfielder for picking up the language to communicate better on the pitch.

He said on The Big Interview podcast:

"Alexis, what a special player and a special, special person. It took him a little time to settle. Learning the language. His English is incredible now and he's picked it up. He's a player that is so pure in how he plays. The way he lends the football, he uses others.
"There's no selfishness at all in the way he plays. It was so special watching him during the World Cup. Not playing to begin with and then him getting used; proving himself; and then playing so well that there's no way this guy doesn't play; and then at the end to see Messi looking for him. Like Messi was looking for him to link, to play."
"Alexis' role was to almost mirror where Messi was. Whether Messi was deep, he would take high positions. If Messi was high, he would drop. That just shows how much he understands - his football intelligence. Ok, he's not the quickest or the strongest but up here [points to his head] he's like [Luka] Modric. He's not the quickest or the strongest, but he's so smart. He knows that the football is faster than anyone, [or] anything," he added.

Alexis Mac Allister was a key part of Liverpool winning the Carabao Cup last season. He was also an important player for the Argentina side that won the Copa America this summer.
