Alan Shearer predicts outcome of Spain vs England Euro 2024 final but admits his dream scenario won't happen

Alan Shearer has backed England to win the Euro 2024 final against Spain on July 14. Shearer, though, doesn't think his dream scenario will happen, which is the Three Lions being up a comfortable 3-0 with 15 minutes to go.

England are set to play their second successive European Championship final having finished runner-up at Euro 2020. The final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin marks their first-ever major tournament final on foreign soil.

Spain enter the final in dazzling form with a 100 percent record and as the only team in history to win six Euro games in a single edition. While England scraped past opponents for the majority of the tournament, they showed a much-improved performance against the Netherlands in the semi-finals.

Shearer reckons the turn of events indicates an England triumph. He acknowledged Spain have been the best team in the Euros but backed his country's chances.

Shearer told Betfair:

"I think with what's gone on previously in other matches, we might not do it in 90 minutes and we may have to endure a long evening once again. My dream is England are 3-0 up with 15 minutes to go so that we can all relax and enjoy the party atmosphere but I sense this won't happen."

Shearer pointed out that the Three Lions needed to toil en route to the final in this year's competition. He expects yet another hard-fought win for his country in the Germany edition of the European championships.
