Alejandro Garnacho's brother comments on Manchester United star's relationship with Erik ten Hag following social media activity
Alejandro Garnacho's brother has hinted that all's well behind the scenes at Manchester United between the player and manager Erik ten Hag. The Argentinian forward was recently in news following his social media activity once again.
The 20-year-old apparently liked a post containing comments from Cristiano Ronaldo criticising Ten Hag as well as the Red Devils' current affairs. There's no love lost between the Dutch manager and the Portuguese superstar following his unceremonious exit from Old Trafford in 2022.
Garnacho is a self-proclaimed Cristiano Ronaldo fan and has previously copied the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's celebrations on the pitch. The Argentinian quickly unliked the post, but by then it had caused a stir across social media.
Garnacho started last weekend's game against Southampton from the bench, further fueling rumors that he was being punished by Ten Hag. However, Manchester United sources were quick to play down those reports, insisting that the decision was a tactical one.
Garnacho returned to the Red Devils' starting XI against Barnsley in midweek (September 17) in the EFL Cup and enjoyed a fabulous game. He scored two goals and set up two more, and was seen laughing with Ten Hag after he was replaced by Amad Dialo.
Citing the incident on social media, one supporter concluded that the Dutch manager had forgiven the Argentinean.
“Looks like Ten Hag forgave Garnacho for liking that post.”
Garnacho's younger brother Roberto responded to the claim, hinting that the player may have apologized to Ten Hag.
“Ofc (of course). When you have (make) a mistake outside the pitch, you have to say sorry based on [your] performances. Not going out blaming anyone,” wrote Roberto.
Manchester United next face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday, September 21, when Garnacho could be drafted back into the starting XI.
Could Alejandro Garnacho power Manchester United to silverware this season?
Alejandro Garnacho has been outstanding for Manchester United since breaking into the first team in the 2022/23 season. He registered 10 goals and five assists from 50 games last campaign, establishing himself as a first-team regular under Erik ten Hag.
This season, the Argentinean has already scored four goals and set up three more from six games across competitions. New minority owners INEOS have invested wisely in the squad, but Garnacho could yet prove to be one of their most important players.
With the Red Devils seeking to get back to their best under Ten Hag, this could be the season when Old Trafford witnesses the rise of Alejandro Garnacho.
