“All I can say is good luck” - Former Manchester United star Nani sends message to Old Trafford-bound Ruben Amorim

Former Manchester United winger Nani has wished Ruben Amorim good luck ahead of his move to Old Trafford. The 39-year-old manager will take over at the English giants on November 11 following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag on October 28.

Nani spent eight years with the Manchester-based giants between 2007 and 2015. He won four Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League title at the club, among other honors. He made 230 appearances for the team, scoring 41 goals and setting up a further 70.

Speaking with Sport TV, the 37-year-old Estrela Amadora star wished the Sporting CP boss the best in his new job, saying:

“All I can say is good luck, He has done an excellent job at Sporting, and I hope he can do the same at United, which is a great club, one of the best clubs in the world. I think he is in a great place. He will have the chance with excellent players to deliver a strong response, as he has all the conditions to do so.”

Ruben Amorim will lead Sporting out against Manchester City and Braga before he takes up the reigns at Manchester United. He is currently undefeated in the Portuguese League this season with 10 wins from 10 as they sit atop the table.

"I don't know, I'm here, and I really like being here"- Viktor Gyokeres responds to rumors tipping him to join Ruben Amorim at Manchester United

Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres has responded to rumors linking him with a move to Manchester United after Ruben Amorim was hired as the Red Devils coach. The manager signed the Swedish striker from Coventry City last summer and he has become a key part of the Lisbon-based club's setup.

Gyokeres has been a fabulous signing since he arrived in Portugal in a reported €24 million deal in 2023. He has scored 63 goals and provided 19 assists in 66 appearances for the side and is one of the most sought-after strikers in the game.

He discussed the possibility of joining his former manager in England after his side beat Estrela 5-1 in their last game on November 1, telling Sport TV:

"I don't know, I'm here, and I really like being here. It's not something I think about. I'm enjoying it here."

He discussed the difficulty of playing alongside the departing Ruben Amorim in his remaining games for Sporting before he joins Manchester United, saying:

"Of course, it's not a normal situation. But we won 5-1, and the team reacted very well. We are professionals, and we have to continue like this. We are sad to see [Amorim] leave; he is a great professional; he was fantastic for us, but we have to adapt. It's difficult to talk about the future, but we will definitely do the same job and continue to give our best. We wish him the best. It's very good for him."

Gyokeres has been fabulous this season, bagging 20 goals and four assists from 16 games across competitions. Manchester United will do well to find a better striker than the Swedish goal machine amid the struggles of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
