“All like to play on the left, don’t go to the right” - Real Madrid superstar suggests Mbappe, Vinicius, and Rodrygo don’t ‘understand’ each other
Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal has insisted Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo Goes all prefer to operate in the left-forward role. Los Blancos added more firepower to their attack this summer by roping in Mbappe on a Bosman move.
The Frenchman is among the finest players of his generation and is expected to take the La Liga champions to a higher level. However, his arrival has also complicated matters for Carlo Ancelotti.
Mbappe prefers to operate in the left forward role, but Vinicius is the established name in the position for Real Madrid. As such, the former Paris Saint-Germain superstar has been forced to operate as a striker since his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Speaking recently, as cited by Madrid Xtra, Carvajal insisted it is only a matter of time before Vinicius Junior, Mbappe, and Rodrygo learn to play together.
“Vinicius, Mbappé, and Rodrygo all like to play on the left and don't go much to the right, but it's a matter of time before they understand each other completely. That balance will come soon,” said Carvajal.
Kylian Mbappe's arrival has also raised questions of Rodygo's place in the squad. The Brazilian was linked with an exit all summer amid reports of discontent. The player's social media activity added further fuel to the fire.
Rodrygo was on Liverpool's radar. Meanwhile, it was also reported that Pep Guardiola had identified him as a possible replacement for Julian Alvarez at Manchester City. However, the 23-year-old ended up staying at Real Madrid.
Rodrygo played across Los Blancos' frontline last season, registering 17 goals and nine assists from 51 games across competitions. However, he has been restricted to the right-forward role this season, registering one goal and one assist from five games.
Real Madrid already trailing Barcelona in La Liga
Real Madrid are defending their La Liga and Champions League titles this season. With an enviable squad at their disposal, Los Blancos are expected to be successful in their endeavor.
Real Madrid have registered three wins and two draws in their first five games across competitions. They are already four points behind bitter rivals Barcelona in the league and need to fire on all cylinders soon.
Real Madrid next face Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena on Saturday, September 14, and the trio are expected to be in the starting XI.
