"Already have them at home” - Lionel Messi sends message to ex-Real Madrid star and Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham after signature boot launch
Lionel Messi has sent former Manchester United and Real Madrid star David Beckham a message after being gifted a pair of boots by the latter. Beckham recently co-designed a range of Adidas Predator football boots, a model that he has always been linked with.
Marking the thirtieth anniversary of the famous boots, Beckham sent Messi a pair as a gift. Messi then took to the social media site Instagram to thank Beckham, who is also the co-owner of Inter Miami, where the former is currently playing. The two are known to share a good relationship with each other.
"Ya los tengo en casa !! Gracias @DavidBeckham (I already have them at home!! Thanks @DavidBeckham)," Messi wrote on Instagram after receiving the boots.
Messi was phenomenal in the 2024 Major League Soccer campaign, scoring 20 goals and bagging 10 assists in 19 games for Inter Miami. However, his team could not taste success in the playoff stage of the competition and were knocked out by an unlikely Atlanta United.
Lionel Messi has a lifetime contract with Adidas
Messi, who is sponsored by Adidas, is always seen wearing football boots manufactured by the German sportswear giant. In 2017, Messi signed a lifetime contract with Adidas, making him the only-ever footballer to do so. Early on in his career, however, he was associated with Nike.
Messi moved to Paris Saint-Germain from his beloved Barcelona in the summer transfer window of 2021, scoring 32 goals for the French club. In 2023, he moved to the United States of America by signing a deal with Inter Miami. So far, Messi has scored 34 goals in 39 appearances for Inter Miami.
Lionel Messi will next be in action in March 2025 when Argentina play Uruguay. However, it remains to be seen if he wears the boots gifted to him by Beckham.
