"Always give your best, always believe" - Erling Haaland reacts on social media after Manchester City were confirmed PL champions
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has reacted on social media after the Cityzens were crowned Premier League champions.
Arsenal's 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, May 20, officially brought their title challenge to an end and gave Pep Guardiola's side their third Premier League title in a row. Man City had the chance to wrap up the title on Sunday against Chelsea, but will now play that game knowing the trophy will remain at the Etihad.
Haaland has been phenomenal this season for the Sky Blues having joined the club last summer from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £51.2 million. The Norway international has played a decisive role behind the Cityzens' Premier League triumph.
After Manchester City were crowned the 2022-23 champions of England, he took to Twitter and said:
"Always give your best. Always believe. It pays off. C'MON CITY!"
Haaland's arrival at the Etihad has taken Manchester City to the next level as the Norwegian has made waves with his goalscoring exploits.
The former Red Bull Salzburg attacker has scored 36 goals in 33 appearances in the Premier League, which is the highest in a league season. The 22-year-old has 52 goals in 49 appearances across competitions while also producing eight assists.
Manchester City are within touching distance of a historic treble, something that has only been achieved by their local rivals Manchester United in England. They will take on the Red Devils in the FA Cup final next month and will lock horns with Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final.
Manchester City interested in signing £85 million rated defender
Manchester City are reportedly interested in the signature of £85 million-rated RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol. The Croatia international has been a player in demand in recent times following his exploits for both club and country.
As reported by The Daily Mail, the Cityzens are eyeing a move for the defender, who has been formerly linked with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea. The report suggests that Pep Guardiola has a major concern ahead of the summer transfer window with three of his stars potentially on their way out this summer.
The futures of Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, and Aymeric Laporte hang in the balance and Gvardiol is reportedly being considered as a replacement for Laporte.
The 21-year-old, regarded as one of the best young defenders in world football, is valued at £85 million by RB Leipzig. The highly-rated defender has already made 86 appearances for Leipzig to date and has also been capped 21 times for Croatia.
