Arsenal dealt blow as transfer target agrees deal to join Bundesliga giants - Reports
Arsenal have been dealt a transfer blow as striker Serhou Guirassy, who had been linked with the Gunners, has reportedly decided to join Borussia Dortmund instead. The Stuttgart striker has chosen to remain in Germany, where he will team up with the UEFA Champions League finalists from the 2023-24 season.
Guinea international striker Guirassy enjoyed a hugely impressive 2023-24 season in Germany's top-flight with Stuttgart, helping them finish second in Bundesliga. He managed 28 goals in 28 league appearances for Sebastian Hoeneß's side as they secured Champions League qualification.
Guirassy was linked with Manchester United in the winter transfer window before Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur registered their interest in the ongoing transfer window.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently stated that the striker has chosen to move to Borussia Dortmund after talks with the German outfit, and they will now trigger his release clause. Guirassy has an affordable £15 million release clause, and will now join the new era under Nuri Sahin at the Signal Iduna Park.
Borussia Dortmund have managed to beat the Gunners to the signing of the striker and will add him to their impressive strike force that has Sebastien Haller and Niclas Füllkrug. After finishing fifth in the German league, they have opted to bring in more firepower this summer.
Arsenal will now turn their attention to other targets, including Joshua Zirkzee and Viktor Gyokeres, as they look to sign a striker. The Gunners are keen to sign competition for Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz up front, with Eddie Nketiah having struggled for form.
Arsenal set to move for Spanish goalkeeper - Reports
Arsenal are reportedly prepared to make a move for Espanyol shot-stopper Joan Garcia this summer. The Gunners are interested in recruiting a goalkeeper as they prepare for Aaron Ramsdale's exit from the club.
Ramsdale fell out of favor under Mikel Arteta last season, with David Raya replacing him after being signed on loan from Brentford. As a result, the Englishman is looking to change teams in a bid to play more regularly at the highest level.
Journalist Gerard Romero has claimed that Arsenal will look to sign 23-year-old Garcia from Espanyol after he played 21 times in the Segunda División last season. The signing will be made if Ramsdale leaves the club, despite academy graduate Karl Hein only just signing a new deal.
