Arsenal enter race to sign former Chelsea youngster but face competition from Manchester City and Real Madrid - Reports
Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala is a highly sought-after transfer target among top European clubs, including Manchester City and Real Madrid. According to a report from Fichajes.net, Arsenal have now entered the race for the former Chelsea youngster, whose contract ends in 2026.
Musiala, still only 21, is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in world football. Since his debut for Bayern Munich in 2020, he has been a key player for the club, amassing over 70 goal contributions in 167 appearances.
Musiala has reportedly rejected a recent contract extension offer from the German giants, as he seeks a wage of £300,000 a week. This has alerted several European clubs to his situation.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are reportedly leading the race for the former Chelsea youth player, as they see Musiala as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who will turn 34 next summer. Real Madrid are also looking for a successor for Luka Modric, who may be playing his final season at the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to the aforementioned report, Barcelona are also in the mix, along with Arsenal, who have expressed interest in adding another attacker to their squad. Musiala, with his versatility across the frontline, could be a valuable asset for Mikel Arteta’s squad given his age and talent.
Nevertheless, Bayern Munich have been in negotiations to keep Musiala as a central figure in their project under Vincent Kompany. However, given their current transition period and recent struggles, a move back to England could be very appealing to Musiala, especially if the top two clubs make a serious offer.
Bayern Munich director provides update on Jamal Musiala’s future amid Arsenal and Manchester City interest
Bayern Munich have consistently emphasized that Jamal Musiala is viewed as a key figure at the club. His role under Vincent Kompany highlights this, as he is regarded as a versatile midfielder who contributes both in the build-up phase and in the attacking third.
Bayern’s Director of Sport, Max Eberl, recently praised Musiala’s talent and his ability to solve problems on the pitch. When asked about his future, Eberl mentioned that the club has been in negotiations for months.
“The fact is that we have been exchanging ideas for months. We will sit down and talk. We will do this in our own time. Jamal knows what he has at Bayern. But we also know what we have in Jamal. He should become one of the mainstays at Bayern. We want to win the Champions’ League. We want to win national titles. Our aspirations will help Jamal garner his own personal rewards," he said to Sky Germany. (via Bulinews)
Despite his impressive performances for both Bayern Munich and the Germany national team in the recent Euros, Musiala was not included in the top 30 nominees for the Ballon d’Or.
Many believe this omission was due to Bayern Munich’s subpar season, where they finished third in the Bundesliga and were eliminated in the semi-finals of the Champions League. It will certainly be intriguing to see where the youngster ends up next summer.
