Arsenal keen on signing player previously hailed by Manchester City superstar Phil Foden - Reports

Arsenal are reportedly interested in England's Euro 2024 star Marc Guehi who Manchester City's Phil Foden gave a glowing verdict. The Crystal Palace defender shined in Germany, following up on a superb 2023-24 campaign at Selhurst Park.

Football. London reports that Palace values Guehi at £70 million. The Gunners have been discussing a potential player-plus-cash deal involving Eddie Nketiah as they try to reduce that fee by £30 million.

Guehi, 24, was a stalwart at the back for the Eagles last season, appearing 29 times across competitions. He helped his side keep eight clean sheets as they finished 10th in the league under Oliver Glasner.

However, Guehi's performances at Euro 2024 for England truly got English fans and media talking. He earned six caps, helping Gareth Southgate's men finish runners-up.

Guehi's national team teammate Foden has given Arsenal an insight into the type of talent the Palace man is. He told England's media team at the European Championships:

"He [Guehi] has been a leader. I know him well from obviously playing with him and he's not fazed by anything. I feel like he has come into the team and shown his qualities."

Arsenal have already made a defensive move in the market as they close in on the signing of Riccardo Calafiori. He's another star who shined at Euro 2024, and the Italian left-back is set to arrive from Bologna in a reported £42 million deal.

Ex-Manchester United star Ben Foster named Arsenal target Marc Guehi England's best Euro 2024 player

Ben Foster waxed lyrical about Guehi when asked which England player was the best player at Euro 2024 in Germany. The former Manchester United goalkeeper claimed on his YouTube channel (The Cycling GK):

"Marc Guehi, has to be Marc Guehi. Just imperious all the way through, genuinely imperious all the way through. I was gonna say he didn’t put a foot wrong – that’s doing him a disservice, just saying he didn’t put a foot wrong. He was absolutely fantastic."

Guehi came into Southgate's starting XI leading into Euro 2024 after Harry Maguire was ruled out with a calf injury. The United defender had long been England's starting defender alongside John Stones.

The former Chelsea youngster quickly batted away any concerns that he'd be unable to flourish for the Three Lions. He showed calmness and determination at the back and grabbed a vital assist in a 2-1 win against Slovakia (a.e.t).

Arsenal has two glowing endorsements of Guehi to mull over, and it would be intriguing to see him at the Emirates. Arteta has arguably the most reliable center-back partnership in the Premier League (William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes).
