Arsenal legend Thierry Henry condemned for treatment of AC Milan star following Champions League defeat against Liverpool: Reports
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has faced criticism for his conduct toward Christian Pulisic during a post-match interview following AC Milan's 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on September 17. The Frenchman seemingly declined to engage, while the American winger gave an interview to CBS Sports following the match.
USMNT forward Christian Pulisic gave the Serie A outfit the lead inside the opening three minutes in their UEFA Champions League league-stage clash. He ran almost the entire Liverpool half to smash the ball into the far corner. Arne Slot’s men restored parity in the 23rd minute after Ibrahima Konate rose highest to head home Trent Alexander-Arnold’s freekick from the edge of the box.
Eighteen minutes later, Virgil van Dijk put Liverpool ahead with a towering header from Kostas Tsimikas' corner kick. Dominic Szoboszlai completed the comeback for the Reds as he slotted home Cody Gakpo’s pass in the 67th minute.
After the match, Pulisic was called up for an interview with CBS Sports Golazo, which featured host Kate Abdo, and pundits Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards, and Thierry Henry. However, during the interview, Thierry Henry appeared to ignore the USMNT man and has since been heavily criticized for it.
During the interview, the former Manchester City player Micah Richards pushed Henry to ask Pulisic a question. At the time, Henry, focused on his notes, briefly looked up, and simply responded with "no." Appearing slightly puzzled, he glanced around before resuming his focus on his notes (02:00 onwards).
Henry's apparent disinterest in engaging with Pulisic further has led to criticism, with some branding his behavior as "arrogant."
Some people took X (formerly Twitter) to lash out at the Frenchman for the behavior.
A user wrote, ''Just flat weird behavior from Thierry Henry during this Pulisic interview. Strange and awkward.'' @USACFC_
Another chimed in, ‘’ He's always been an arrogant piece of manure. @wealthsquadj
@DandMussoccer said ''Can’t believe some talking heads (and ex-players!) actually wanted Thierry Henry as coach. Anyone with a brain can see how petty, immature, aloof, and arrogant he is.
