Arsenal and Manchester United linked with a €40m move for Paris Saint-Germain star in January: Reports

Premier League clubs Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain star Randal Kolo Muani, as per a report from French media outlet L'Equipe. Not only has he been linked but he might be available at a value of 40 million Euros only.

In the 2023 summer window, Kolo Muani made a move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Paris Saint-Germain. Reportedly, he was valued at 90 million Euros at that time. He had a tough first season and is yet to shine this season too. In 10 appearances across the Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League, he has scored only two goals.

The situation for Kolo Muani isn't promising at this moment. Paris Saint-Germain faced Olympique de Marseille in Ligue 1 on Sunday (October 27). With Goncalo Ramos injured, it was inevitable that the 25-year-old would be looked upon as the main attacking force. However, manager Luis Enrique preferred using Ousmane Dembele, a proper winger as the No. 9.

Paris Saint-Germain are as of now ready to offload the French international. As per L'Equipe, both Manchester United and Arsenal might be tempted to sign Kolo Muani as both teams lack in the attacking front.

Arsenal and Manchester United's attacking problems

Arsenal have Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. But a new striker is what they will prefer, and that too in January. While Havertz is enjoying a nearly blissful season so far, Jesus is yet to master the opposition's defensive third. The German forward has scored six goals in 13 appearances. On the contrary, the Brazilian linchpin is yet to start firing.

Jesus notably, has made 11 appearances for Arsenal this season, but has received only 94 minutes game-time in the Premier League across seven of them.

Manchester United meanwhile, are in search of a new manager after Erik ten Hag parted ways with the outfit yesterday (October 28). As of now, Ruud van Nistelrooy will be at the helm as the interim supremo. However, reports have emerged claiming Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorin to be the successor to the Dutchman.

While Manchester United bring in a new boss, they will also be looking out for a new centre-forward. They have Joshua Zirkzee, who is more suitable to a false No. 9 role. Rasmus Hojlund is there too, but a lack in the attacking third might compel the board to bring in a new forward. If Amorim makes a move, then maybe United can go out and think about signing either Randal Kolo Muani or Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres.

However, getting Gyokeres would be tough mid-season, so Kolo Muani might be the preferred option for United, if they go forward with the deal.
