Arsenal and Manchester United target available for £30 million this summer - Reports

Arsenal and Manchester United target Ivan Toney is reportedly available for £30 million. This comes after reports earlier suggested that the Brentford striker was put up for sale for an asking price of £80million-plus.

According to a recent report by The Times, the 28-year-old will be available for £30 million, as he has entered the final year of his contract with the Bees. Furthermore, reports suggest that his price tag has been drastically reduced amid a lack of interest from clubs to match the earlier reported £80 million price.

The Englishman has been on the wishlist of several Premier League clubs, including the Gunners and Tottenham Hotspur. However, recent reports also suggest that Spurs have cooled their interest in the Englishman and are pushing to bag Dominic Solanke's signature from Bournemouth.

Spurs are still trying to fill in the void left behind by Harry Kane and the club feel Solanke could be an ideal fit. The Gunners once looked in pole position to sign Manchester City's Julian Alvarez. However, Atletico Madrid reportedly appear as frontrunners to bag his signature. With Jesus' place in the team in question due to Havertz's arrival, it is possible that Arsenal may turn their attention towards the Brentford striker.

As for The Red Devils, they shelled out £36m for Joshua Zirkzee. However, with Rasmus Hojlund sidelines for a couple of months due to injury, Erik ten Hag wouldn't mind spending as little as £30 million to bring Toney to Old Trafford.

The Englishman scored 21 goals in 35 appearances for Brentford in the 2022-23 season. He was banned from football for eight months for breaking the FA's gambling rules in May 2023. He featured in 17 games for the Bees in the 2023-24 season and managed to score four goals.

Pep Guardiola takes a dig at United & Arsenal after spending £150m in the summer

Manchester City, over the years, have been criticised for spending exorbitant sums of money to sign players. City's signing of Jack Grealish and Josko Gvardiol have been heavily criticised due to the heft sums involved in the players' transfers.

Ahead of City's crucial Community Shield clash against United on Saturday, August 10, Guardiola said it's only news when his side spends money.

The Red Devils and the Gunners have spent around £150m between them, with Leny Yoro moving to Old Trafford and Riccardo Calafiori leaving Bologna for the north London side.

Here's what Guardiola said (via Mirror):

"Yes, many years they have done it. Many years but it's not news. It's just when City spend money. Of course I am concerned for many years [about] how good they are. Because every year they are better and getting better. You see Arsenal playing at the same level as last season, I saw the game against [Bayer] Leverkusen - they are on fire.
"Every year looks more difficult; United will be back, you know? They bought players and everyone wants the crown that we have [had] for four years."

Arsenal signed Calafiori for a reported fee of around $54m, while The Red Devils spent around £55 million to sign Leny Yoro.
