Arsenal and Newcastle United set to battle for young La Liga duo watched by Liverpool: Reports

Arsenal and Newcastle United are two Premier League sides who have now joined Liverpool to register their interest in La Liga youngsters Williot Swedberg and Alberto Moleiro. The pair of forwards have been in fine form for Celta Vigo and Las Palmas respectively this season, attracting attention from multiple clubs.

Celta Vigo are 11th in the league this season, and 20-year-old Swede winger Swedberg has had a great deal to do with that. The talented youngster has contributed two goals and three assists in 12 games for his side this season, making him one of their most important players. Similarly, Spain U-21 international Moleiro has been impressive for the struggling Las Palmas this season, with four goals in 13 league appearances.

CaughtOffside has reported that several sides, including Liverpool and Manchester City, have the duo on their shortlists, and that Arsenal and Newcastle have now joined them. The Gunners and the Magpies have had scouts watch both players in their recent games, indicating that they may look to move for them in January.

Both Arsenal and Newcastle lack attacking depth, an issue that could undermine their respective seasons. The Gunners already find themselves nine points off the pace in the title race and will be keen to make the required additions to make their squad competitive.

With sporting director Edu leaving, manager Mikel Arteta won't want to waste any time in continuing to identify targets for the side. Both Arteta and his Newcastle counterpart Eddie Howe will be keen to watch the youngsters closely before making a decision on signing them.

Arsenal set to battle Liverpool for £85 million Premier League star - Reports

Arsenal are prepared to go head-to-head with rivals Liverpool for the signing of Ghana international Mohamed Kudus in 2025. The former Ajax man has a reported release clause of £85 million, making him available for a permanent transfer from West Ham in the new year.

Kudus has started the 2024-25 season slowly, with one goal from his first seven games for Julen Lopetegui's struggling Hammers. His debut season was much better as he scored eight goals and provided seven assists in the league under David Moyes.

Daily Mail has reported that Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in the forward. The Reds consider him to be a potential Mohamed Salah replacement, while the Gunners see him as someone who can challenge Bukayo Saka on the right flank.
