Arsenal and PSG transfer target says he will make a decision about his future in 'a few days'
Rennes midfielder Desire Doue - an Arsenal and PSG target - is reportedly set to make a decision on his future soon. The 19-year-old made his first-team debut in the 2022-23 season.
Having come up through the ranks at the Ligue 1 side, Doue has contributed eight goals and seven assists in 76 games across competitions. That includes four goals and six assists in 42 outings across competitions last season. Nine of those goal contributions came in Ligue 1, where Rennes finished tenth.
Despite being contracted with them till 2026, Doue has been linked with many top sides from across the continent. As per TBR, the Gunners, Tottenham Hotspur, PSG and Bayern Munich are among his suitors. He said about his future:
"It has been a very busy month, I have had many matches to play, and I have concentrated on this. There are people who work for me, who take care of me so that I can be released. The Olympics are over. In a few days, I will have to make a decision about my future."
The Frenchman was part of the Les Bleus squad that finished runner-up to Spain in the gold-medal match at the 2024 Paris Olympics, losing 5-3 in extra time after a pulsating 3-3 draw in 90 minutes.
Arsenal end pre-season with Lyon win
Arsenal ramped up their preparations for the 2024-25 season with a 2-0 win over Olympique Lyon at the Emirates on Sunday (August 11) to win the Emirates Cup, a friendly competition.
Defender William Saliba opened the scoring in the ninth minute before his defensive teammate Gabriel Magalhaes doubled his team's advantage 18 minutes later. Midfielder Declan Rice provided the assist for both goals from set-pieces.
New summer signing Ricardo Calafiori made his Gunners debut from the bench, albeit in a friendly, having arrived in the summer from Bologna in a reported deal worth £42 million. He came on for Oleksandr Zinchenko midway through the second period.
Interestingly, despite the game being friendly, manager Mikel Arteta didn't make any half-time substitutions. The Gunners are coming off a decent pre-season, winning three of five friendlies and losing one.
The 2022-23 and 2023-24 Premier League runner-ups open their new campaign at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers next Saturday (August 17). The Gunners are looking to end a 20-year Premier League title drought, having finished behind Manchester City in the last two campaigns.
