Arsenal seen rehearsing Premier League trophy lift in case they snatch title from Manchester City on final day, photos and videos emergeĀ
In several videos and images that surfaced online, Arsenal's club staff was seen rehearing lifting the Premier League trophy in case they win their first league title in over two decades.
Both the Gunners and Manchester City will enter the final matchday of the season on May 19, Sunday as potential Premier League champions. The Cityzens take on West Ham United while Mikel Arteta's men welcome Everton at home.
Should Pep Guardiola's men lose their clash or drop points, Arsenal will be crowned champions. However, if City wins, the Gunners' clash against the Toffees will be a mere formality.
To be prepared in case the Hammers pull off a massive upset at the Etihad, the Gunners' club staff was seen practising trophy presentation.
It could be seen that banners reading 'Premier League champions' were scattered throughout the Emirates Stadium.
A person stood on a pedestal and gave out pretend medals to the club staff. The staff members were seen walking up to the podium to collect their medals as the players would during the trophy presentation.
Furthermore, a replica of the Premier League trophy was seen on the centre of the pitch. An identical trophy will also be delivered at the Etihad should Manchester City be crowned champions for the fourth consecutive time.
Urging David Moyes to help his side win the Premier League trophy for the first time since 2003-04, here's what Arsenal gaffer Mikel Arteta said (via Mail):
"He [Moyes] has been instrumental in my career. Not just as a footballer, but as a person as well. If he could help us to fulfil our dream and my personal dream to win the Premier League, that would be unbelievable and he'll always be in my memory, that's for sure."
Arteta had previously said that he has faith that his side will lift the Premier League trophy on Sunday.
Arsenal have already won more games this season than 'The Invincibles' did in 2003-04
The Gunners have won 27 games this year in the Premier League, which is more than the games 'The Invincibles' won in 2003-04.
The Invincibles won 26 games and drew 12 in a 38-game season. They remained undefeated, however, and were crowned champions.
Arteta's men came pretty close to lifting the trophy last season as well. Sadly, despite leading the table for over 200 days, Arsenal failed to convert their otherwise heroic run in the Premier League.
They're far closer to the title than they were last year. However, it all comes down to whether the Hammers can find a way to defeat the Cityzens, who have looked in impeccable form since their 4-3 defeat on penalties to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
