"We will be in the fight to lift the Premier League" - David Raya bullish about Arsenal's title challenge despite recent setbacks
Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya is bullish about his side's chances at mounting an effective title challenge in the Premier League despite their recent struggles. The north Londoners have won only one of their last five games in all competitions.
The Gunners have been the closest competitors to reigning champions Manchester City in the two previous seasons but have struggled to maintain their momentum in the early stages of this campaign. However, the former Brentford keeper does not believe his team will be out of contention for the title in the business end of the season, telling Mundo Deportivo via FotMob:
"We have shown last year and this season, although we have not started as we would have liked, especially the last two games due to the circumstances of the matches, with very difficult away games with one man less."
"We must not make excuses and we must move forward. We deserved more against Chelsea and Newcastle, but we will continue in the same vein, correcting errors and looking forward with a very good group that we can do anything. We will be in the fight to lift the Premier League."
Arsenal currently sit in fourth place on the Premier League table, nine points behind current leaders Liverpool. The Gunners' next three league matches are against Nottingham Forest (Nov 23), West Ham United (Nov 30), and Manchester United (Dec 5).
