Arsenal turned down multiple proposals to offload Jakub Kiwior this summer, according to Fichajes. The Polish defender excelled in an unconventional left-back role last season but is no longer guaranteed game time at the Emirates.

The arrival of Riccardo Calafiori over the summer has pushed the 24-year-old down the pecking order under Arteta. The Spanish manager also has Oleksandr Zinchenko for the job, while Jurrien Timber has been utilised in the position this season.

It's believed that the Gunners received offers from Inter Milan, Napoli, Fiorentina as well as Bologna for Kiwior this summer, but they decided against letting the defender go.

The north London club are fighting on multiple fronts this season and also have their eyes on the Premier League. Arteta wants to keep his squad intact and believes the Pole has an important part to play this year.

Arsenal decided not to sign a striker this summer as they missed out on their primary target, according to acclaimed transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. Arteta was hot on the heels of Benjamin Sesko at the start of the transfer window.

However, the Slovenian decided against a move away from RB Leipzig. The Gunners were linked with multiple other names as the summer progressed, including Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres, but opted against a move.

In his column for Caught Offside, Romano said that the north London side did good business in the summer transfer window.

“I think Arsenal had a very good window. Signing David Raya on a permanent deal, Raheem Sterling was a good last minute opportunity, Riccardo Calafiori a fantastic signing. Mikel Merino also a very good addition, strongly wanted by Arteta,” wrote Romano.

He continued:

“Arsenal don’t sign players for the sake of it, and this is why they didn’t sign a striker after missing out on Benjamin Sesko, who decided early on in the summer to sign a new contract with RB Leipzig.”

Arteta has used Kai Havertz in the No.9 role with good effect so far.
