Arsenal Transfer News Roundup: Gunners eyeing Miguel Gutierrez, club want Jorrel Hato, and more - May 19, 2024

Arsenal secured a 2-1 win over Everton in the Premier League on Sunday, May 19, at Goodison Park. Goals from Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kai Havertz secured a comeback win, but it wasn't enough to help them win the league title.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are planning a move for Miguel Gutierrez this summer. Elsewhere, the north London side are keeping a close eye on Jorrel Hato.

On that note, let's look at the major Arsenal transfer news from May 19, 2024

Arsenal are planning to take Miguel Gutierrez to the Emirates at the end of this season, according to Fichajes. The Spanish left-back has gone from strength to strength since moving to Girona from Real Madrid in 2022. Gutierrez has been in fine form this season, registering two goals and eight assists from 39 outings across competitions.

The Gunners are looking for a new left-back this summer, amid the uncertainties surrounding the future of Oleksandr Zinchenko. Mikel Arteta wants an upgrade on the Ukrainian and has identified his countryman as an option. Gutierrez's contract with Gironistes runs until 2027 and he reportedly has a €40m release clause in his contract. Interestingly, Los Blancos have a buy-back option for their former player and could also consider him this summer.

Gunners want Jorrel Hato, says Fabrizio Romano

Arsenal are monitoring Jorrel Hato with interest, according to acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Dutch defender has been a revelation for Ajax this season, registering 46 appearances across competitions, all while of which have been starts. His efforts have turned heads at multiple clubs in Europe, prompting the Eredivisie giants to extend his stay until 2028 in March this year.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano added that the Gunners could target him this summer or return for the player next year.

“Hato recently extended his contract at Ajax, but Arsenal keep monitoring him. They believe he’s going to be a generational talent,” said Romano.

He continued:

“A top, top centre back for the present and future, in a position which is really difficult to find on the market because left-footed centre backs are not easy to find. Arsenal really like Hato, so let’s see if they will attack the situation in the summer or wait for one more year. But, for sure, he remains one of the players on their list.”

Hato could be a fantastic long-term partner for William Saliba.

David Raya opens up on his future

David Raya has revealed that he is not in talks with Arsenal regarding his future. The Spanish goalkeeper arrived at the Emirates last summer on loan from Brentford and has been impressive so far. Raya has appeared 41 times across competitions this season, registering 20 clean sheets. Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed that the 28-year-old will sign a permanent deal with the Gunners this summer.

Speaking after winning the Premier League Golden Glove for this season, Raya admitted that he would love to be at the Emirates next season.

"No, no. I am just focussed on the present. I don't want to think too much about the future. It's not up to me now. I have to think about the game on Sunday. Then we break for summer. It's not up to me to sign. It's up to the club and Mikel. If my performances have been good enough, hopefully, they will offer me a contract,” said Rays.

He continued:

“Of course, I would love to be here next season and, if that's the case, it will be amazing - a dream come true. I don't want to it stop here. I want more. I want to win trophies with Arsenal.”

Raya was also full of praise for Mikel Arteta.

"As a person, he's 10 out of 10, and the same as a manager. He knows what he wants. He shows us how to get the best out of the group. With the staff, the fans, the players, he has brought this club together again. What he's done is incredible,” said Raya.

Arteta's contract with the north London club runs until 2025.
