Arsenal willing to listen to offers for player they signed in 2022 - Reports

According to TBR Football, Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for Fabio Vieira and could sell the Portuguese midfielder this summer. Vieira joined the Gunners from Porto in 2022 for a reported £34 million but is yet to produce the desired results expected from a player with his potential.

In two seasons at the Emirates, Vieira has struggled to maintain a place in Mikel Arteta's setup, making just 49 appearances. In that time, the 24-year-old has managed to register three goals and nine assists.

After a slow start to life in England, Viera was expected to be more productive in his second season, but that was not the case. He saw less game time than in his debut season, which could be blamed on a groin injury, but was rarely utilized by the manager when fit.

The Portuguese's most notable moment from the 2023-24 season was coming off the bench and providing an assist in the 2-2 draw against Fulham at Emirates Stadium.

Vieira is seen as the stand-in for Martin Odeegard in attacking midfield. However, Arteta could also deploy Leandro Trossard ahead of the former Porto man if the need arises, and this further pushes him down the pecking order.

Thus, according to the report, if the right price is offered for Vieira, Arsenal would consider letting him go. Nevertheless, with pre-season activities around the corner, Vieira could still convince Arteta that he has the desired elements to be part of his plans for the upcoming campaign.

Arsenal's summer transfer activity so far

The Gunners have been quite inactive in the ongoing summer transfer market with the permanent signing of shot-stopper David Raya from Brentford being their only notable activity thus far.

However, with the Euros and Copa America over, and pre-season activities about to commence, the Gunners are expected to seal some major deals. Mikel Arteta will look to solidify his team as they eye another run for the league title after finishing runners-up for two consecutive seasons.

Arsenal have been heavily linked to Italian center-back Riccardo Calafiori and are favorites to land the Bologna defender. As per the Mirror, both clubs are yet to reach a transfer fee agreement for the 22-year-old.
