Aston Villa star Matty Cash names who among Manchester United and Arsenal had better season after Red Devils win FA Cup

Aston Villa right-back Matty Cash has claimed that Arsenal relished a better season than Manchester United, who lifted their 13th FA Cup trophy at Wembley last Saturday (May 25).

The Gunners, who ended their latest season without lifting a major trophy, finished second behind Manchester City with 89 points in the 2023-24 Premier League table. They won 28 of their 38 league games, netting 91 goals and conceding just 29 goals in the process.

Erik ten Hag's side, on the other hand, endured a difficult season despite lifting the FA Cup trophy on the final day of their campaign. They achieved an eighth-placed finish with 63 Premier League points and finished bottom of their UEFA Champions League group.

During a recent interaction on talkSPORT, Cash was asked to share his two cents on Arsenal and Manchester United's respective seasons. The 26-year-old replied (h/t TBR):

"Obviously, winning the FA Cup... fair play. [Manchester United] have done well to win the FA Cup, credit to them, but I think in terms of [consistency], Arsenal have kept that. I know they haven't won anything, but the consistency they have shown and the level they have shown in the season, even last season, I just think that's incredible to keep that consistency."

Arsenal, who defeated Manchester United twice in the league this season, enjoyed a fine season under Mikel Arteta. They recorded 35 wins and 10 losses in 52 total games, scoring 120 goals and shipping 46.

Arsenal and Manchester United target likely to leave in the summer, says club manager

According to Daily Mail, Arsenal and Manchester United have enquired about Stade Rennais star Desire Doue ahead of the next season. Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayer Leverkusen, and Borussia Dortmund are all also interested.

Earlier last week, Rennes manager Julien Stephan admitted that his club could fail to stop Doue from departing. He said (h/t Mirror):

"We know today's market, notably for the very young players. He will decide through his personal ambition. I'm not naive. We're glad to have developed him during the second part of the season. He's at risk of leaving without a single full season here, that's a shame. I would have liked that... that would have been an ideal situation."

Doue, 18, has emerged as one of the hottest talents in the Ligue 1 this season. The right-footed versatile midfielder has registered eight goals and seven assists in 76 matches across competitions for Rennes.
