“At first he was distant” - Dominik Szoboszlai names the first Liverpool player he got close to
Dominik Szoboszlai named Trent Alexander-Arnold as the Liverpool teammate he first became close friends with. He added that the defender was a reserved personality initially but that changed soon.
Speaking to Forbes, Szoboszlai talked about his relationship with Liverpool teammates, remarking:
"Well, Trent. At first he was distant, but then he realised that my temperament was similar to his, and we started to get closer to each other."
When quizzed about Jurgen Klopp, Szoboszlai said that the German was the best coach he has worked under. He added:
"Well... I think he's the best coach I've ever worked with, extra as a human being, extra in football knowledge, extra in his attitude towards players, extra in his attitude towards the team."
Liverpool signed Dominik Szoboszlai last summer from RB Leipzig after triggering his release clause of over £60 million. He scored seven goals and assisted four times in 45 appearances for the club in the 2023/24 season.
Dominik Szoboszlai was praised by Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold
Trent Alexander-Arnold spoke highly of Dominik Szobozlai earlier this season. The Liverpool defender was talking to Sky Sports when he claimed that the new signings were keen on doing well and said:
"They have really bought into what we are trying to achieve and shown signs that they want to achieve the same thing."
When asked which of the new signings impressed him, the Englishman said about Szobozlai:
"[He's] similar to me, to be fair. I'd say off the pitch, away from football, very relaxed, laidback, downtime, chill. We take our minds away from football. Whereas when we're in a football environment around the training ground, in training, in games, we fight for every single thing and we want to bring the best out of the players we're with. I think that's why we get on so well – because we share the same ideas and the same kind of mentality towards the game. We give everything and we expect results and we're both really competitive."
The Reds won the Carabao Cup this season but finished third in the Premier League despite being at the top the table for a reasonable time.
