Atlanta United mock Lionel Messi's Inter Miami with hilarious David Beckham meme

Atlanta United posted a hilarious David Beckham meme to troll Lionel Messi's Inter Miami after beating them in the MLS playoffs. The Georgia-based side rallied back from a loss to defeat the Supporters Shield holders in consecutive games to knock them out following a best-of-three contest.

The Herons were highly impressive this season and lost only four matches in the league phase. Interestingly, one of those losses came to Atlanta United, who beat them twice in the playoffs as well.

The side poked fun at the Miami-based outfit with a hilarious post on X.

Despite their loss in the knockout stages of the MLS playoffs, co-owner David Beckham will be pleased with Inter Miami's performance this season. Meanwhile, Lionel Messi's exploits this season will go down in the history of the club as he bagged 22 goals and 13 assists in 24 games to help them to the playoffs for the first time in their history.

"I actually don't know how limited [Messi's time in this league] is" - Inter Miami boss unsure if Lionel Messi will extend stay at club

Inter Miami boss Gerardo Martino is unsure if Lionel Messi will continue at the club beyond his current contract. The 2022 World Cup winner's contract at the club expires in the summer of 2025.

Messi joined the club in 2023 and helped them win the Leagues Cup and Supporters Shield while becoming the club's all-time leading scorer with 33 goals. He has played 38 games for the side and also provided 18 assists.

Martino recently told GOAL that he was unsure if the Argentine maestro will remain at the club beyond his current contract, saying:

"I actually don't know how limited [Messi's time in this league] is. There is a question of time passing, but I would not dare to say that it is so short. If you look at the context in which this began, it seems to me that the progress of the club is important.
"The comparison of the last game of last season, back in October, with today's third game in the playoffs and this bitterness that we all have for not having progressed, is clear that the club's objectives have been modified and I think there is no reason for the club not to continue trying next year. What happened this year, the bad and the good in general have been better than everything that happened last year and I would say even from the entire life of the club."

Lionel Messi's future in football remains a mystery, with the Barcelona legend currently 37 years old. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has achieved everything he can in the sport.
