Barcelona ace Lamine Yamal names Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammate and Real Madrid star as 2 toughest ever opponents

Barcelona ace Lamine Yamal has revealed his two toughest opponents: a national teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo and a current Real Madrid star. The young Spaniard named Nuno Mendes and Ferland Mendy as the most difficult challenges he has faced in his young career.

Yamal has been an integral part of the squad since he was promoted to the Barace senior team. His ability to produce results has seen him bag 10 assists and seven goals in 51 appearances across two seasons.

Lamine Yamal discussed the opponents who have given him the most difficulty in an interview via Mundo Deportivo. When asked about the toughest defender he had faced so far, he said:

“Toughest defender I’ve faced? Ferland Mendy and [Nuno] Mendes.”

Both of Yamal's toughest opponents are at Euro 2024 with their nations and he might have to play at least one of them if he hopes to be crowned winner of the tournament with La Roja.

While Ferland Mendy represents France, Nuno Mendes will play alongside Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo and Yamal's Iberian neighbors Portugal.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed an opportunity to set a new record in his nation's opening Euro 2024 match against Czechia. The Los Blancos icon would have become the oldest player to score at the Euros if he found the back of the net but he will have to wait for the next game to break that record.

Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal had no issues writing his name in the history books, becoming the youngest player to assist in the tournament's history in the game against Croatia. Yamal is also the youngest player to feature at a Euros, at just 16.

Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lamine Yamal played their part in helping their countries to victory in their opening day matches at Euro 2024.

The Barcelona youngster will be keen to keep his fantastic run going and help his side secure qualification to the next round with another win. Cristiano Ronaldo will want to add to his impressive goal tally for his nation (208) at Euro 2024, in what could be his final appearance at the tournament.
