Barcelona ace Lamine Yamal sends 13-word message to Dani Carvajal after Real Madrid defender suffers ACL injury: Reports
Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal has sent a message of support to Real Madrid's Dani Carvajal after the latter picked up an ACL injury. The veteran defender suffered the setback in the dying minutes of Los Blancos' 2-0 win over Villarreal on Saturday (October 5).
The La Liga champions have since confirmed that the 32-year-old has suffered multiple ruptures in his right leg. It has also been mentioned that the player will undergo surgery in the coming days to address the issue.
Carvajal has been an integral part of Real Madrid's starting XI under Carlo Ancelotti. With Barcelona on the rise under Hansi Flick this season, the Spanish defender's injury will be a big blow for Los Blancos.
In a show of solidarity, Yamal put club rivalries aside to wish his countryman a speedy recovery. The 17-year-old shared the message via social media.
“A lot of strength Carva, you’ll come back like the bull you are,” wrote Yamal.
The two players shared the pitch for La Roja over the summer, helping Spain lift Euro 2024. Carvajal is unlikely to return to action this season, which could seriously hurt Real Madrid's plans.
The veteran defender has appeared 11 times across competitions this season, all but one of which have been starts. The Spaniard has registered one goal and one assist across competitions and his contract was recently extended to June 2026. While Los Blancos do have Lucas Vazquez in the squad, Carvajal's abilities and leadership qualities will certainly be a big miss.
Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal and Barcelona have enjoyed a terrific start to the new campaign. The Catalans are already three points clear at the top of the La Liga table and are the team to beat this year.
How have Barcelona and Real Madrid started the season?
Barcelona's decision to replace Xavi with Hansi Flick this summer has proven to be a master stroke. The German manager has won nine of his 11 games so far, scoring 35 goals, with Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha running ramphant for the Catalans.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid haven't done too bad either. Carlo Ancelotti welcomed Kylian Mbappe to the Santiago Bernabeu over the summer and the Frenchman has done a decent job for Los Blancos so far. He has registered seven goals and one assist from 11 outings.
Real Madrid have lost just one of their 12 games this season and have already won the UEFA Super Cup. While they are trailing behind Barcelona in the title race, the reigning champions are unbeated in nine games in the league so far.
