Barcelona dealt blow as star player picks up injury, likely to be ruled out for 3 weeks – Reports

Barcelona have been handed an injury blow as Spanish forward Ferran Torres was subbed off due to a thigh injury in the early minutes of their La Liga clash against Deportivo Alaves on Sunday (October 6). Ferran Torres was included in the starting XI for Barcelona for the third consecutive fixture this season, having started against Young Boys and Osasuna.

Hansi Flick’s men suffered a major setback just five minutes into the match as Ferran Torres picked up an injury. The 24-year-old felt discomfort in his right leg and signaled to Flick and the coaching staff that he wouldn’t be able to continue. The German manager replaced him with Eric Garcia.

While Barcelona are yet to confirm the extent of Torres' injury, reports have given an estimate of the expected duration of his absence.

According to Dairio AS, Ferran Torres could be out of action for around three weeks. This means he will not be able to join the Spain national team for the upcoming international break. Ferran has been included by Luis de la Fuente in La Roja’s squad for the October international fixtures alongside teammates Pedri, Lamine Yamal, and Pau Cubarsi.

The injury also comes as a blow to Torres, as he has been trying to force his way into the starting lineup for La Blaugrana this season. He will now return to the club’s infirmary to join Dani Olmo, Andreas Christensen, Fermín López, Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Marc-André ter Stegen, and Marc Bernal.

Ferran Torres unlikely to leave Barcelona in January amid departure rumors – Reports

Torres is reportedly unlikely to leave Barcelona in the 2025 January transfer window amid exit rumors. While La Blaugrana have enjoyed a good start to the 2024-25 season under Hansi Flick, the same can't be said about the Spanish forward.

So far this season, Torres hasn’t been convincing on the left wing in Hansi Flick’s lineup. As such, there are rumors that Barcelona could part ways with the player in the next transfer window.

According to Sport, it is highly unlikely that Ferran Torres will depart Barcelona in January. The club is not keen on allowing his exit mid-season, and Torres himself has reaffirmed his commitment to succeeding at the club, expressing no desire to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

In another report, Barca Universal have claimed that coach Hansi Flick doesn’t see Ferran Torres as a key player in his long-term plans. With Ferran’s latest injury adding another development to the story, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him at the Catalan club.
