Barcelona make big decision after Paul Pogba offers to join them amid talks to terminate Juventus contract: Reports

Barcelona will reportedly not be Paul Pogba’s next destination after his future at Juventus is now shrouded in uncertainty. Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, has ruled out a move for the Frenchman, as he is on the verge of becoming a free agent when he returns to football.

Pogba, who saw his four-year doping ban reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), will be eligible to return to the game in March 2025. However, in what will come as a harsh note to the ears of the 31-year-old, the chances of Juventus accepting him back are very slim. Juventus reportedly plan to terminate his contract. And if they are unable to terminate his contract, they will come to a mutual agreement to part ways with him.

Amidst these developments, some reports suggest that Paul Pogba could offer to join La Blaugrana as a free agent once Juventus terminate his contract. Barcelona sporting director Joan Laporta was once interested in Paul Pogba when he was at the peak of his powers. But with the current circumstances surrounding the Frenchman, it is unlikely that the Catalan club would revive their interest in him.

According to El Nacional, Barcelona don’t consider Paul Pogba a priority target at the moment as they have a star-studded midfield option in Gavi, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Dani Olmo. Apart from that, the Frenchman is gradually approaching the twilight years of his career, as he is currently 31 years old. The controversies surrounding his career also cast a shadow on his talents that could have made the club not want to obtain his signature.

With Barcelona seemingly out of the next destination for Paul Pogba, his entourage has begun to make moves to find a new destination for him. At the moment, the Major League Soccer (MLS) appears to be the next possible destination for him, as the clubs in the league are poised to sign big names to strengthen the American league.

Former president Josep Bartomeu says Barcelona tried to sign Paul Pogba in 2015

Former Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has said that the Catalan cub tried to acquire the services of Paul Pogba before he joined Manchester United in 2016. Bartomeu revealed that they told Juventus that they would be interested in the Frenchman if they would like to part ways with him.

"In the summer of 2015, Paul Pogba was playing in Turin, and we simply told Juve that, if one day they decide to sell the player, we would be interested,” recalled Bartomeu in an interview with ESPN.
"When they sold the player, they told us what the offer would have to be and we couldn't afford that amount of money at the time. So, he went to United, and he's making them better as a team because he's one of the stars of the world of football right now," he added.
