Barcelona star says he has activated ‘Shark mode’ after picking up injury; shares message to fans

Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has informed fans that he is tremendously motivated to come back stronger after his injury setback. The Spaniard picked up a thigh injury in Sunday's (October 6) La Liga game against Alaves and had to be substituted early. Barca won 3-0, courtesy of Robert Lewandowski's hat-trick.

The Catalan giants have since confirmed that the player has injured the biceps femoris muscle of his right thigh and will be sidelined for a while. While such an injury normally requires three to four weeks of recovery, RAC1 recently claimed he could be out for two months.

Torres, however, is upbeat about the situation and remains determined to get back to his best. The 24-year-old wrote on Instagram:

"I have the enthusiasm and drive to work and come back stronger than ever. Ferran the Shark mode, activated." (Translated).

Torres rose through the ranks at Valencia, before catching the eye with the senior team. He secured a move to Manchester City in 2020 before joining Barcelona in 2022.

He has been in and out of the first team picture at Camp Nou. Torres has appeared 123 times for the club, scoring 26 goals and setting up 15 more.

How has Ferran Torres performed for Barcelona this season?

Ferran Torres hasn't been in his best form for Barcelona this season but remains an important part of the squad. The Spaniard has appeared 10 times across competitions, including six starts, registering one goal and two assists.

His absence will be a big blow for Hansi Flick, who has worked wonders since taking charge at Camp Nou this summer. The Catalans have been impressive so far, registering nine wins in 11 games across competitions.

Barcelona failed to secure the services of Nico Williams over the summer. However, Flick has managed to get the best out of the talents at his disposal so far.

While Torres' injury will be a setback for Barcelona, they have the resources to cope. Robert Lewandowski has rediscovered his mojo under Flick this season and has been in red-hot form.

Lamine Yamal, meanwhile, has continued where he left off last campaign. Meanwhile, Raphinha is playing some of the best football of his career under Flick this year.

Barcelona will also welcome Dani Olmo, Fermin Lopez, and Gavi from injury after the international break. As such, Ferran Torres is likely to be afforded ample time for a full recovery.
