Barcelona star set to be rewarded with place in starting XI after shining in UCL win against Dortmund: Reports

Barcelona forward Ferran Torres is reportedly set to be handed a place in the starting XI when they face Leganes in the league on Sunday, December 15. This comes after his stand-out performance against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League during mid-week.

Torres, 24, came off the bench to score a second-half brace as La Blaugrana defeated the Bundesliga outfit 3-2 away from home. The victory secured automatic qualification to the Round of 16 for Hansi Flick's side with two games remaining in the league phase.

According to SPORT (via Barca Universal), the manager is set to reward the Spaniard with a place in the starting XI against Leganes on Sunday. Torres has been in good form recently. Since returning from a hamstring injury, he has netted four goals in four matches.

The former Manchester City star scored in consecutive league games against Mallorca and Real Betis before his brace against Borussia Dortmund. Prior to his injury, he had contributed one goal and two assists in 10 games across competitions for the LaLiga outfit.

As per the aforementioned report, Flick has been impressed with Torres' performance. The Spain international has been forced to play mostly from the bench due to the form of Barca's prolific attacking trio of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinah, and Lamime Yamal. Overall, he has made 14 appearances this season, registering five goals and two assists.

Barcelona to battle with Inter Milan for Jonathan David - Reports

David is in the final months of his contract with the Ligue 1 outfit and will become a free agent by next summer if he fails to pen a new deal. As such, he is eligible to enter pre-contract talks with interested suitors by January 2025.

Jonathan David has been in top form this campaign, netting 17 goals and providing four more in 24 appearances across competitions.
