Barcelona target keen on joining Hansi Flick's side this summer - Reports
Manchester City star Joao Cancelo is reportedly very interested in a move to Barcelona. According to Spanish outlet Sport, the Portuguese defender has asked La Blaugrana to speed up their negotiations with the Cityzens.
The stumbling block in the move has been City's unwillingness to send Cancelo on a temporary deal once again. They are looking to get a permanent deal or at least a loan deal with an option to buy.
Cancelo spent the previous campaign on loan at Barcelona and was a key player for Xavi. He made 42 appearances across all competitions, collecting four goals and five assists.
The 30-year-old's future with Manchester City is unclear after a falling-out with manager Pep Guardiola. Thus, he is keen on a move away from the Etihad.
However, it remains to be seen if right-back, the Portuguese star's primary position, is an area of need for the Catalan giants. Amidst their financial troubles, they may find it difficult to complete a permanent deal for the Portuguese. They have already signed striker Pau Victor from Girona, while they are close to finalizing a deal worth €62 million with RB Leipzig for Dani Olmo.
With the likes of Jules Kounde and youngsters Julian Araujo and Hector Fort as options at the position, it remains to be seen if Flick's side will pursue the signing of Cancelo.
Manchester United revive interest in Barcelona midfielder: Reports
Manchester United are exploring the possibility of signing Frenkie de Jong. According to Manchester World, the Red Devils have approached Barcelona again over the Dutch midfielder.
Erik ten Hag's side were heavily interested in the 27-year-old back in the summer of 2022. While the two clubs were in agreement, de Jong was keen on staying with the Catalan giants and fighting for his place.
He made 30 appearances for Barcelona last season, scoring two goals while missing almost four months of action to injury.
With the likes of Pedri and Ilkay Gundogan already in the side and the impending arrival of Dani Olmo to add, de Jong might find a reduction in his playing time. Thus, a move to Old Trafford could be beneficial for the Dutchman.
The Red Devils have cast their net wide in search of a midfield partner for academy star Kobbie Mainoo. They have been linked with the likes of Manuel Ugarte, Martin Zubimendi and Sofyan Amrabat, according to the report.
