"Based on my information" - Spanish journalist provides update on PSG star Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid rumours

Spanish journalist Edu Aguirre has said that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star Kylian Mbappe is likely to play for Real Madrid next season. The Frenchman's contract with the Ligue 1 club expires this summer.

Mbappe has long flirted with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. He came excruciatingly close to joining Real Madrid in the 2022 summer transfer window but ended up signing an extension with PSG instead.

Although the France international has the option of extending his PSG contract by another year, he said last year that he would not exercise the option. Aguirre has now further fanned the flames by saying that Mbappe has an '80 percent' chance of joining Real Madrid this summer.

“Based on my information and feeling, and taking a guess, I believe Mbappe will play for Real Madrid at 80 percent. These are my chances of it happening,” Aguirre said on El Chiringuito de Jugones Twitch channel (via PSGtalk).

The 25-year-old forward has been in fine goalscoring form this season. In 24 games across competitions, he has scored 25 goals and provided three assists. Following Lionel Messi and Neymar's departure this summer, Mbappe has featured as both centre-forward and left winger.

Real Madrid planning for Kylian Mbappe alternative

According to Football Transfers (via GOAL), Real Madrid are preparing for an alternative if they fail to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer.

Napoli's Victor Osimhen is on top of their transfer wishlist if they fail to land Mbappe. The Nigeria international will cost €130 million, which is said to be his release clause.

However, signing Osimhen may not be straightforward, as a host of European bigwigs have been linked with the striker. The likes of Chelsea and Arsenal are on the lookout for a striker and have the Nigerian on top of their wishlist as well.
