"Been involved in two of the poorest games so far" - Carragher makes honest England claim after their draw against Denmark at Euro 2024

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has made an honest admission about England's performances at Euro 2024 following their 1-1 draw with Denmark on Thursday (June 20). The Reds legend confessed that the Three Lions have been involved in two of the poorest games in the competition so far.

Euro 2024 kicked off last week as Germany took on Scotland in the curtain-raiser on June 14.

England played their opening fixture versus Serbia on June 16 and were largely underwhelming despite pulling off a narrow 1-0 victory. The Three Lions put in another disappointing performance when they faced Denmark in their second game and were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at the Deutsche Bank Park.

Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 18th minute, tapping home a cross from Kyle Walker. Danish midfielder Morten Hjulmand equalized in the 34th minute with a thunderous strike from outside the area.

After witnessing yet another mediocre display from Gareth Southgate's men, Jamie Carragher wrote on social media:

"#EURo2024 has been fantastic, but England have been involved in two of the poorest games so far."

The Three Lions had just 49% of the ball during the encounter. They had 12 total shots and four on target, compared to their opponents' 16 shots and seven on target. Southgate's men also trailed in terms of number of passes, passing accuracy, and corner kicks won.

They also faced more threats, with their goalkeeper being forced to make six saves, compared to the opposition keeper's three saves.

What's next for England at Euro 2024?

England will finish the group phase of their Euro 2024 campaign against Slovenia at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne on Tuesday, June 25.

Despite their slow start, the Three Lions should comfortably progress to the next round of the tournament. As it stands, they're ranked first in Group B with four points in two games, two points ahead of second-placed Denmark.

They can secure the top spot in their group with a win over Slovenia next week. However, they'll need to step up their efforts significantly if they want to go far in the competition.
